Growing Access Grants Spring 2023

This spring Festival of Sharing was able to support several agencies beyond packs and kits with Growing Access Grants. Approved agencies were invited to apply for grants of up to $1,000 to tackle food insecurity and promote nutrition in Missouri. Applicants were encouraged to apply for funds that will help them expand, improve or initiate efforts aimed to impact hunger. 13 applications were awarded a total of $12,250, an increase from the 2022 grant cycle.

The projects awarded include:

  • New and expanded community gardens and gardening programs

  • A summer cereal program

  • Pork by the pound

  • Formula and baby food supplies

  • A grocery outreach to migrant communities

  • Grocery gift cards for teens learning to live on their own.

  • Technology to deliver a nutrition program

  • Expanding reach with a Harvest Market

  • Expanding meat and dairy offerings to clients

Funds for the Growing Access Grants have been supported by a legacy gift from a generous, life-long supporter of Festival of Sharing. Legacy gifts allow us to respond to hunger and nutrition in different ways!
